The Love House

This is actually called the Love House. It's built by Takeshi Hosaka Architects in Japan. An airy yet quite structural composition which I believe blends well in any urban landscape. Pure forms and natural elements convey a balanced abode. The use of concrete, wood and white surfaces define the minimal style of the house.

Can you handle color?

Us humans are the weirdest creatures on earth... One moment we feel ecstatic over the absence of color and the next we praise a vibrant abode, at least I do! I can help it not to like a house with bright teal walls. I have used the exact same hue for my bedroom, you see I wasn't that brave to do it on the living room walls. The whole place is so warm and cheerful, and full of pretty things. A rather eclectic mix of furniture and well curated items runs from one room to another. Mmmm, heaven!

My Kara (Mann)

I admit it; guilty as charged! I spent all weekend swooning over Kara's site. You may have heard of her before and you may not but you'll agree with me there's something about her! Almost all the elements, important in interiors, she uses in her work with such an impeccable style! She's traditional but in an unexpected way. The color palette is brilliant and timeless. Sleek lines with a touch of luxury. An authentic sophistication, a relaxed glamour! I could live in those places and not worry over the top, in fact I feel some of her choices are synonymous to my taste. Sure, it's a tad more prim than average but there's plenty, that anyone could incorporate, in terms of style.

Look at those images! An inspiring fusion of fashion and enviroment. Meticulously created visuals from photographer Miep Jukkema for various magazines like Marie Craire and Elle. Delicate creatures invaded our mundane world with their grace and harmony. This is the woman I want to be...

A gorgeous house from Zamel Krug Architekten built at the area of Hagen. A project completed at 2006. Unfortunately, I can't give you more details since there aren't any written in english but the house speaks for itself! Amazing construction that shows great respect to the enviroment. It reflects a spacious feeling, a sense of desired emptiness with all the surrounding green foliage.

Divine Luisa

Today's post is going to be devoted to a phenomenal lady, Luisa Beccaria. Not only she has dressed many celebs like Sarah Jessica Parker but she's creating amazing collections. Here's a preview of her spring- summer line of well tailored clothes. The Milanese designer, Luisa Beccaria, is a contemporary romantic whose artistic vision is drawn from an array of cultural experiences fused with vivid imagination. The result is a dreamy style at once glamorous, elegant and feminine.

My dining area

The dining area is not a seperated room but it belongs to an open plan scheme that consists of living, kitchen and dining. It is rather confined though, since the layout allows it to stand on three walls with the fourth open to the main living area. While I was waiting for my chairs I was using the tobias chair from IKEA and, to be honest, I liked the combination of the sleek transparent chair with the massive curved table. On one side rests a series of the IKEA floating selves and on the other, I have a black leather chair which I intend to switch with a better one as soon as I have the cash. The flooring  is made out of stones and I really like its roughness. I keep it bare.

Fluo fantasies

There's definetely something with fluo accents against dark backgrounds. It creates an intense atmosphere, a futuristic set where you can recreate quite many styles like asian, minimal, bohemian and the list goes on. Actually the fluos seem to absorb part of the heaviness coming from the dark surroundings and rebounce a positive energy that reflects allover the space.

My dining chairs

A while back I said that I'll post pictures of my old/new dining chairs after the completion of the upholstery work with the Sandberg Kiriko textile. Well, that time had come and gone and finally today I came around  and took some pictures in all their glory! The chairs belonged to my mother. They fall at the category of  Louis15 replicas and are all six handmade. Actually, she ordered them to a local small furniture company  back in the seventies right after her marriage. They are made of fine oak-tree, which I knew but couldn't tell because they were in pretty bad shape when I got them. I found out for sure when I gave them a professional 'face lift' which consisted of a patina finish and repairment of the frame. I went for the patina because it doesn't cover completely the wood and it gives a more subtle light version of the original chair. The break-down of the cost for the project is; 2 1/2 meters of Kiriko textile worth of 240 euros, 'face lift' worth of 1000 euros and upholstery job 450 euros. It cost me a little fortune but it was all worth it! Now they sit quietly in my dining room and wait patiently for the next turn of guests to entertain!

All white interiors

Today I thought of sharing an all white danish home. Looking around for some inspiration in Bolig Magazinet I found this gem! The owner Birgitte also runs a stylish boutique, called Me and Jake, full of all-feminine yet sexy coctail and evening dresses. No wonder her house evokes such a delightful approach to modern and minimal aesthetics. To me by now, it seems a rather thin case to ever own an all white home yet I find quite a few features in this one that I could possibly have opted for myself, if only... Surely I would have add more touches of boho elements and primarily loose the leather couch. Still, it's an abode I long for its purity, serenity and all white scheme.
