Thoughts on the water

IMG_1633
I stumbled upon a phrase lately which also happens to be the title of a book. The phrase goes “become what you are” and it’s the title for a collection of essays written by Alan Watts and published long after his death. I did a bit of researching and I found out that Watts has been one of the most influential philosophers on familiarizing western thought with the eastern. I haven’t read the book or any other of his writings but I’m feeling pretty sure that somewhere through the shared spiritual channels of our civilization I must have had some kind of interaction with his wisdom. I can’t retrieve it this moment but  now I’m eager to comprehend the message emitting from “become what you are”.  Scattered thoughts were on my mind lately which seem to escape me every time I try to give them a solid form. They were passing like water through my hands and only this phrase made them more specific and kinda dense. What I was trying to conceive is more or less a revised speculation of my existence. This is a game that started as an inner quest of all things that make me myself and define my substance and it has long been occupying my unconsciousness. I perceive it now as a deliberate attempt to represent myself more accurately in real life but online too, especially since my status is about to change from a detached individual to being a parent and having someone else constantly rely on me. The need to outline the banks of my existence is a way to serve and protect a new life. A reason to become a better me.

Beauty is…this eclectic room!

Since its launch, Lonny captivates perfectly the spirit of contemporary interiors. Over the course of  time they showed one too many beautiful interiors to begin with, but today I wanted to share this living room shot. This room depicts more or less what I want from a space. Simple yet creative and a bit edgy. Enough to stir my interest and not over the top styled. A space that breathes and allows its inhabitants to feel relaxed!  The warmth of the wooden furniture bonds with the white walls and the quirky photograph adds absolute character. This is my inspiration, from Lonny magazine.VIA LONNY MARCH12-2

Marble ballet

When I look at a collection I usually select a few pieces that really stand out! This is not the case with Lina Rennell’s spring/summer collection. It’s sexy, delicate and beautiful! The colors are to die for and the cut on most garments is pretty amazing and overall flattering. What about the patterns? Oh, my! So detailed and intriguing. To sum up, every and each piece is a little treasure of its own! Just to tease you, I gathered below some pictures, but you will find more on her website. The current collection is called Marble Ballet

The amazing world of Eatable of Many Orders!

Amelie run into Mary Poppins and together they strolled down Wonderland’s main road. A magical road created by this Japan based fashion brand under the peculiar name “Eatable of Many Orders”. If  the name sounds surreal for a fashion house it’s because their approach to fashion and design is totally unique and original. Their creations are a mix of  one part art, two parts fairy tale whimsy and a dash of Japanese culture. The images below are from their summer line of 2012. But please, go there, there’s a lot more to discover!

Spring came…

IMG_1274IMG_1580IMG_1500IMG_1281
...In and out of the house! The weather has been glorious and when we change time on Sunday I will enjoy the longest days. The air is crisp and makes us feel alive. Nature celebrates this significant period with colors, smells and noises. Funny noises from our cats, trying to mate and happy noises from birds up and around the trees. Even if I feel down, I look at this  metamorphosis and loose myself in it. I get carried away by this change that happens no matter what...and takes the winter away.

The Flower Appreciation Society

This is not your average florists. Ellie and Anna made that decision when they created together The Flower Appreciation Society. With a background in illustration and textile design they both have what accounts for beautiful, whimsical and sometimes quirky arrangements! They share a love for English seasonal flowers and masses of wild foliage. I love me a spring bouquet, don’t ya?

The amazing world (her home that is) of Joanna!

Joanna and Sebastian have created a unique house by following their instincts after they decided that living in a big city was not their priority. They took a house in the country which had good bones but was in need of a major overhaul. It’s a tough job but they did and pretty good, I will say! The result is a modern, airy and relaxed home with wood beams and a painted floor, as homage to its country origins. The main aspect of their abode is the open plan living which suits them perfectly. You see a lot of white around, but also a beautiful accent wall in black that creates depth and adds dimension. The interior is a mix and match of IKEA furniture and sourced pieces. The overall feel is simple yet functional and smart! Joanna is online as well, she authors the beautiful blog  Kavkadesign and there you will find her sharing ideas, inspiration and daily life!

Find & Refined {a french afternoon}

My plans on posting this week’s finds before the weekend were ruined due to broken internet connection. The story was going like this... I am always fascinated by the French, their attitude on life and their signature style which has been the source of inspiration for many and has created a timeless perspective on design and lifestyle. Major big screen films and their heroines played a role on that notion. An fine example of this everlasting fashion is actress Jean Seberg as seen on the iconic film Breathless. A true classic if you ask me. Thinking of this motion picture I gathered a few ideas and even if today is Sunday and my post is long due, I couldn’t help but share my finds and dream of a french afternoon.  6993208069_04df98ac2f_z

On blood oranges and life

You see I have a habit of drinking fresh orange juice, not everyday but pretty often. In fact, I can’t drink orange juice from a carton. It’s not that I haven’t tried. Several times. Some are better than others but all leave me in the end with a sense of fraud, the aftertaste feels kinda numb and oxidized…Instead, I like freshness! I love the smelling of fresh cut oranges, the squeezing till the last drop of juice. I like to clean the mess afterwards. In a same manner, I’m trying to squeeze life to its fullest and get it to give me the most. I don’t like premade boxes of living. It’s quite a task I admit. Easily routine can make me blunt and have me act on repeat mode but after a while I digress. I need to feel like I’m creating my life and the harder I try the more I find it rewarding.
