Beauty is this wallpaper called Carpates!

Do you know the feeling when you come across something truly divine? Your heart starts pumping, your eyes get wet and you loose sense of time. When I saw this sumptuous space, everything froze. I was gazing upon it until it became unbearable…  There’s so much going on in this picture to just pretend I don’t care. First of, this plump velvety sofa with the color of open sea, a color that lures you in!  The delicious set of pillows, so inviting and comfy… The pile of magazines promising a great afternoon time.  And then it’s the wallpaper. Oh my! It’s not for the faint of heart. Dark, exquisite and imposing, it takes up your existence and sucks you in! So dramatic and unique without looking dowdy. The colors are muted but rich. The texture is quite present and utterly opulent. This paper transforms the room into something extraordinary and unique, full of depth and dimension, like nothing does!

Find & Refined {a french afternoon}

My plans on posting this week’s finds before the weekend were ruined due to broken internet connection. The story was going like this... I am always fascinated by the French, their attitude on life and their signature style which has been the source of inspiration for many and has created a timeless perspective on design and lifestyle. Major big screen films and their heroines played a role on that notion. An fine example of this everlasting fashion is actress Jean Seberg as seen on the iconic film Breathless. A true classic if you ask me. Thinking of this motion picture I gathered a few ideas and even if today is Sunday and my post is long due, I couldn’t help but share my finds and dream of a french afternoon.  6993208069_04df98ac2f_z

I’m always drawn to aesthetically appealing design and Brabbu is no exception, but when a company creates with focus not only in design but in respect with nature is at least admirable. The outcome, in such a case, is destined to be excellent! Brabbu delivers selective pieces of interior items with amazing detail and craftsmanship while researching all aspects of every organic form they choose. Plus, they put together a array of shots that shows great styling, bringing together high end design with an earthly vibe, so relaxed and yet sophisticated. No need to say more!  They sold me at first sight. Just take a look at the stunning images above.

Guest Post: Tiny decorative details

Hi, I'm Susi, a writer for Design Shuffle, an online community of interior designers, design professionals and design lovers from around the world. I'm so happy to be visiting Finely Inc. today to guest blog about one of my favorite topics: decorative details in interior design.  The saying “the devil is in the details” definitely applies to a well styled room. The details, even tiny ones, are what make a room beautiful, chic and stylish.  I've pulled together some of my favorite tiny decorative details to share with you and your readers.  Enjoy!
Table Accents

Like jewelry and accessories in fashion, tiny decorative details can make a room, a vignette or even a piece of furniture.  Beautiful bowls and trays make lovely table accessories and places to hold beautiful baubles.
Grosgrain Ribbon Design

Love the grosgrain ribbon and nailheads that trim the door frames in this mudroom. Such a chic (and simple) detail that adds tons of style.
Bathroom Decor Design

Accents are great bathroom design ideas. A silver tray in the bathroom to organize perfume bottles and other objects is a lovely design detail—one of those versatile and easy decorating ideas. The silver adds shine and an extra bit of elegance.
Nailhead Trim Detail

Nailhead trim is a classic decorative detail that is small but creates a big impact. It can be applied to all kinds of furniture and even walls.
Brass Knob Accent

You can greatly enhance your bedroom design with some small details. Pulls and knobs can completely change the look of a piece of furniture. These tiny decorative details can make the difference between fine and sublime. Love the shiny brass against the navy on this chest.
Door Knob Accent

We use them every day but how often do we really pay attention to door handles? Swapping out standard knobs for antique or vintage knobs can turn a tiny detail into a design statement.
Footstool Design

Even the smallest piece of furniture in the room can make a big statement in a bedroom design.  Adding an interesting patterned fabric to this footstool makes it stand out in the room. Small is beautiful.
Furniture Trim Detail

Trim is the tiny detail that can transform a piece of upholstered furniture. Piping on cushions, trim and ribbon are beautiful details for furniture. [ Images 1/ 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 ]

Find & Refined { animal planet }

Today, on Find & Refind we showcase the fauna kingdom and its take on design and everyday items. The theme is not new. In human history, animals played an important role which consisted more than merely a source of  nutrition. The contemporary items based on animal figurine are playful and sometimes ironic. There's certainly a plethora out there but what you see above are some of my favorites!

Archetypal luxury

The collaboration of Ana Meier (daughter of the renowned architect Richard Meier) and Charlie Ferrer led to an amazing furniture collection under the name of Meier/Ferrer. Creating, at first, custom pieces for private clients, they took their idea a step further into establishing a company that delivers contemporary aesthetics in the form of sleek and modern pieces for the home. Their design is beyond words, just magnificent! They use only the finest of raw materials like linen, steel, hardwoods and leather, full of character and sustainability. Their interprentation of archetypal lines into modern luxury is unparalleled. Their work definetely depicts timeless style!

Item of Perfection

Pumpkin table by turkish company Autoban is my latest obsession. Inspired by the Ottoman Kavuk and a pumpkin, the top and bottom circular plates are connected with metal rods. Its shape and lines emit perfection. Well proportioned, curvy and suntainable falls right into the timeless object category! It's such a versatile object and can be used both as a side table or stool. Also, its form allows it to be used as a magazine rack. What else does a stylish gal need? Of course its price puts it high above an ordinary budget, nevertheless one can find many regular priced options like the one we see in this pretty house above, found via Martha Stewart.

Elena of design

Ok, here's the story; the other day I was visiting the loveliest shop in the town I live -that said though, I haven't had the chance to chat with the owner until this very Friday. So, apart from the nice talk we had and the goodies I brought back home from atelier LZC I found out that one of her daughters is Elena Zournatzi, a prominent spirit of the new greek design. Elena is responsible of all the inspiring and refreshing illustrations above and if you pop over at her site you gonna see more! Greek press has done a many great spreads on her, especially after her work for the store of the new Acropolis museum and since I've been there already, take my word on this; everything in the store is so well presented and designed like you're in a really hip and high end place, so totally different from the usual boring museum stores. But Elena has another hidden ace up her sleeve...She creates unique wallpaper designs and children's books. Elena is undoubtly talented. I bet she can have us all swoon over her work within a second!

Villa Sclopis, Turin

This project is accomplished by an architect whose various endeavors show his mastermind. Take a look (a good look) at the site of architetto Michele De Lucchi. I say Woa! There's a certain philosophy cramped behind the following words;"Aware of the gap that had been created between design and production, he set out to rediscover the role of the architect as an intellectual who conceives and fulfils his projects with a more responsible approach to the quality and beauty of things."

Edward van Vliet designs

Ever since Domino magazine featured this day bed design from Edward van Vliet I became addicted to his creations. A wide range of works includes textiles, interior design, lighting, furniture and corporate identity. A -still press hot- collaboration with the Greek-Dutch bedding company Coco-Mat will introduce three sleep concepts for both hotels and consumers.
